I wish I had the answers

I frequently lie awake at night wondering what the point of life is. Why do we live, only to die? All I really have are guesses- I'm not so arrogant to pretend to know the answer. But man, it would be nice to know, lol. I like to think that after death we are given some answers. I'd hate to live life as one of those novels you absolutely love, and then get no closure at the end. It's like wtf? what happened D:

But I guess I'm just babbling now.

Well I did take a few pictures of a different dragon for you guys ;D
Here- 1, 2, 3, 4
The fourth picture is the same angle as the second one, except I turned the flash on. I think it looks better :)

Okay I guess that's all for now

hugs

We all wonder about that I think.

One thing for sure though, we will know the answer to everything the day we die.

I used to do that. Then one day I told myself, "Life is what you make of it and what you leave behind." And I haven't looked back.

Now I wonder if I'm going to attain what I've set as a minimum for myself. I have a theory on life and its meaning, and but it's difficult to put into words. :-/

Hurray for more dragons. :P

I agree that after death we get the big picture.

I think we live because God wants to share the goodness of being with us, and living well means being the best people we can and sharing our goodness with others.

That's one way of putting it.

You have a nice dragon show here; maybe you can get some strength from their image. Have a great Sunday.

And I think we know pretty well the whole of it BEFORE we die. I have been privileged to be with some people who were getting close to death and they had that inner peace which some think comes only after some sort of judgement.

If there was a judgement then there'd have to be a verdict. It a verdict then would there not have to be more than one possible outcome?

But the Catholic church no longer believes in Hell. So what is the alternative?

So why are we here? A complete accident of chemistry. Our job while we're here? We're on about our fourth or fifth version of humanity (so people who look at evidence of prior civilisations, bones, remains of settlements, remains of rubbish and so on.)

So maybe we're here to succeed in living. I don't know either.

@ Micky — I think your source has misled you. According to the "Catechism of the Catholic Church," the Church does believe in Hell.

Here are some salient sentences:
1033 We cannot be united with God unless we freely choose to love him. But we cannot love God if we sin gravely against him, against our neighbor or against ourselves: "He who does not love remains in death. Anyone who hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him."610 Our Lord warns us that we shall be separated from him if we fail to meet the serious needs of the poor and the little ones who are his brethren.611 To die in mortal sin without repenting and accepting God's merciful love means remaining separated from him for ever by our own free choice. This state of definitive self-exclusion from communion with God and the blessed is called "hell." …
1035 The teaching of the Church affirms the existence of hell and its eternity. … The chief punishment of hell is eternal separation from God, in whom alone man can possess the life and happiness for which he was created and for which he longs.
610 1 ⇒ Jn 3:14-15.

611 Cf. ⇒ Mt 25:31-46.

I am unaware of anything which has repudiated this teaching. There was a statement which said one does not have to believe in "Limbo" as the eternal abode of virtuous people who die without faith, including unbaptized infants.

If you have some documentation, I'd be glad to review it.

I didn't exactly mean for this to be an argument about religion >.<

But yes I hope we get answers when we die.

This topic seems to have been well-covered, but I think I'll put my two cents in anyway.

Someone once told me that, "... The meaning of life is whatever meaning YOU make OUT of your life."

They also said that "We are here to live our lives, and do as much good as possible on this Earth, before we have to depart it."

It always made sense to me.
