So, first day of classes

It was rather hectic, got all this reading to do D: I even got a paper on the first day, who seriously does that.

Anyway, I opened a checking account and transferred most of my savings account to it so I could pay for my books, and I pretty much depleted my entire savings paying for 1 semester's worth of books... wrote my first check ever for them, and it was for $856.

So after the classes, I went all the way to south campus (well I took the bus, which was packed and the ride was uncomfortable.. traffic sucked) to pick up my work study contract... only to find out that mine hadn't been printed yet. So the lady told me that it should be ready by friday.

The lady at the biology lab is holding a work study position open for me, but she also recommended that I try to get a position in my own department first. So now I've contacted the director of the nuclear reactor on campus to see if he has any positions that he can fill. The problem is, he's already got 7 students working for him, and if he takes too many then he won't have enough work to keep us all busy. So *maybe* I can get that, I'm not sure...

So meanwhile I have been attempting to read the first chapter of all my textbooks like we were told to, only to fail miserably. I tend to fall asleep when I try to read a textbook, is that weird? >_>

hugs

Oh yeah, and I keep finding blogs that link me that I didn't know about... at least say something so I can link you back >_>

Awww, couldn't you have bought your books online? Generally if you buy your books off like www.amazon.com or something they can be MUCH cheaper. Maybe engineering books are harder to get that way, I don't know. :-/

It sucks to hear about the work-study thing. I hope everything works out in the end.

Lol, I don't even know who links to my blog (not many people tell me either). But at the very least you know I link to yours. ;-)

I wish I'd have done what Aek suggests and bought my books online. What I hate is when you buy the book that costs a weeks worth of groceries, and then they hardly ever even use it in the class. I've got one class with three books we are not even going to be tested on. Damn Bastards!

I just found your blog. Can't wait to read your back posts... I'll link you back on my blog.

I probably could have gotten the books online, if I had looked for them, however then I would have to wait for them to ship and such. Wednesday was my first day of classes, and I have readings and homeworks due as soon as next wednesday.

If I had enough time, I surely would have looked for them online. I don't like to get them before the semester starts though, since sometimes there's a book in the bookstore, and then the teacher says we don't need it.

Does your school have a nice book return policy?

You could buy your books online and use the books you have for a while. Then when your books come in, return the books you currently have for a refund or something. Or you could return your books now while they're still "new" and borrow the books you need from the school library - they should be on reserve right?
