Imagine

When I'm in a mood for slow-ish music, I listen to the emotive album from A Perfect Circle.

This song, to me, is about imagining a world without war.

Imagining a world without war is good. But the rest of John Lennon's lyric is not so fine, IMO. He's saying that to get to that world without war you have to abolish religion, countries, and private ownership of property. In other words, it's nothing but unadulterated Marxism. He also seems to be saying that abolishing property, states, and religion will bring about universal peace and harmony.

So the questions are do you want a world without countries, property, and religion? Do you really think that it would be a world without war or other disharmony. If so, why?

To you, it's a song about imagining a world without war. To me it's a song about a lot more than that, and I find that "lot more" unacceptable.

It's a pure idea, even if it wouldn't work. I guess you're taken into account in the song where he says "you may call me a dreamer."

I'll be honest- I'm not a religious person. I wouldn't particularly mind a world without religion. I understand other people need it though.

I've heard many other covers of that song. This one is by far the most . . . minor (and dark sounding). Idk why, but I hear that song all the time now.
